The Gathering

The Gathering est un groupe néerlandais qui est passé du gothic metal/doom metal atmosphérique au trip tock/alternative rock/goth rock ambiant.

Le groupe est connu pour sa chanteuse Anneke van Giersbergen, qui depuis l'album Mandylion occupe la place centrale du groupe. Cet album est considéré encore aujourd'hui comme un chef d'œuvre du Metal Atmosphérique.

Avec How To Mesure a Planet?, The Gathering change de style et opte pour un ambiant atmosphérique, proche du trip rock. Ceci correspond au départ de Jelmar Wiersma.

Leur album Souvenirs est probablement le plus populaire et le plus réussi.
